What Is A Packaged Unit?
Packaged heating and air conditioning units are single units that contain all of the technical components – condensers, compressors, valves and more – in one casing. Typically found outside of a home, packaged units save space and are highly efficient.
Types of packaged units include:
- Packaged “hybrid” heat units.
- Packaged air conditioners.
- Packaged heat pumps.
Is A Packaged Unit Right For Me?
Gas pack or packaged units are very good at heating or cooling mid-size spaces, typically larger rooms or more than one room at a time. Therefore, they tend to be fairly high-powered while remaining efficient and cost-effective. These units are also rated via Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) and Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) ratings. These ratings make it easier for a consumer to determine the efficiency rating of a particular system. The higher a system’s rating is, the more energy efficient the system tends to be.
