Making sure the air in your house is being properly filtered can go a long way toward improving your indoor air quality.
What Are MERV Ratings?
Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) ratings measure a filter’s ability to effectively remove dust from air as it passes through the filter.
MERV ratings range on a scale from 1 to 16; the higher a filter’s MERV rating, the better it is at removing dust particles from the air.
HVAC system filters should do two things: remove dust and other potentially harmful particulates from the air and protect your heating and cooling system so it runs efficiently. The latter part of this statement involves making sure the filters your equipment uses does not impede air flow in any way. And, of course, you’ll want to use filters that have high efficiency ratings and can pick up as many particulates – no matter how small – as possible.
There are many types of filtration products on the market. How do you know which is right for your system?
That’s what we are here for. We want to make sure your HVAC system’s filtration system is working efficiently and maintaining good air quality at the same time.
